PROJECTS

HOUSING

Setting up a well-established home for homeless children is one of our projects we are going to work on in long run. We have a plan of constructing four bed room houses containing the two rooms for the suffering male child, two rooms for females, and sparing room for the old. This would enable us supervise our chosen people in the community well. Ishak looks forward to establishing technical institutes which trains different skills like tailoring, catering, mechanic, computer and other vocational skills to enable those youth acquire extra create skills that can enable them sustain and create their own jobs.in this we plan that those students who will finish short courses will come back teach others the skills they learnt .we also look forward on constructing a store room for all donations being given to the people.

Our team still needs sponsoring in equipment’s like football, uniforms, shoes and slowly we are working on it. not only football but there are various games like athletics, bicycle riding, netball that we promote in the community.

MEDICAL CARE

We help poor families and children access medical care. This helps to reduce many preventable deaths in rural communities because poor families often suffer from easily preventable and treatable diseases. For example, diarrhea, malaria, and pneumonia. Most poor families cannot afford basic medicines and transport costs to the nearest hospital. This endangers their lives which puts their health at risk. How we help :- 1. Providing medicines and medical supplies to hospitals and clinics that serve poor communities and providing our children with health insurance. 2. Getting in touch with medical students and doctors across different medical schools in Uganda and we organize medical camps in different communities of Jinja district and surrounding areas to offer free medical services to the people 3. With enough funding and sponsorship, we wish to construct different hospitals and health centers in different communities. We believe this will help to reduce on the maternal death and help to reduce on the disease burden such as malaria, HIV/AIDS etc that are affecting the sub-Saharan Africa most. 3. Working to get more mothers giving birth in hospitals and clinics, rather than at home. 4. 5. Educating adolescents on sexual and reproductive health. We work with schools, clinics, and village health teams to achieve this.

CLEAN WATER INITIATIVE

In Uganda more so in rural communities of Jinja district, many communities have poor access to safe and clean water. Many people from different communities use dirty water from streams and swamps to cook food, drink, wash clothing, and clean and this exposes them to diseases such as dysentery, cholera, and diarrhea and young children are affected the most. With access to reliable sources of clean water, these diseases are preventable. That aside, people in rural communities often have to walk long distances to collect water. For children, this wastes time they could have spent on school. For adults, this wastes time they could have spent on more productive tasks. We aim at providing communities in need with sustainable solutions to their water problems. Such solutions include providing rainwater harvesting systems, installing water pumps, rehabilitating damaged water source infrastructure and construction of boreholes .We also aim at providing piped water to schools where our children study from and health centers where our children are treated from when they fall sick.

EDUCATION SUPPORT

Education is the key to transforming the lives of poor children and adolescents. Through it, they can get bright futures with decent work, better health, and a good income. In Uganda, more children are now enrolled in pre-primary, primary, and secondary education but still, there are many children out of school, especially in the poor rural areas and many that join school dropout. Why are many children still out of school? Here are some of the reasons why: • Some rural areas do not have schools. • The poor families can’t afford to take their children to school • They earn a living for their families instead of going to school • Communities with harmful gender norms refuse girls from going to school. In rural communities, more than 10% of the girls are married off before they reach the age of 18. This means the end of their education and most children with disabilities lack the support they need to go to school and the Orphans are often left without the resources they need to go to school In Africa, particularly Uganda, the quality of education is not good enough in public schools with lack toilets, adequate learning materials, well-trained teachers, and standard classrooms and most of the disadvantaged children from poor families study from public schools making them not attain good quality education as in compared to children from average and rich families who can afford to school from private universities with good quality of education. On addition, of children who go to school, few of them enjoy their lessons and actually learn. This is because they go to school hungry, sick, or exhausted from work, or household tasks and as a result, many children fail to reach the smallest skill levels in reading and mathematics which reduces their potential to have successful future. How we can help 1. Building schools The rural and remote areas of Uganda have no schools and a few communities with schools, children walk long distances in order to access the schools. One of our future objectives is to be able to construct at least two standard primary and secondary schools in every village such that the children from the poor backgrounds that cannot afford the huge tuition fees in private schools can access high quality education at a completely free cost. Also, to b able rehabilitate the already available school infrastructures and equip them with standard classrooms and teaching facilities. 2. Providing school materials to the most vulnerable children We hope to increase on the number of children supported by Ishak community organization but we always limited by the funding. We provide scholastic materials such as school uniforms, shoes, school bags, books, pens, pencils, sanitary pads, etc. to all the children supported by the organization. We also plan of supporting the families of all children supported by the organization with some household items such as mosquito nets, toothpaste, and soap. This puts them in a better position to take their children to school and provide a conducive environment for children when they come back from school. 3 Providing food to school-going children Hunger is a problem for school-going kids from vulnerable families and it hurts their progress in school. So, we plan on providing them with a daily meal ranging from breakfast, lunch and this makes their life in school easier and better.
